I like the esthetics of your website. Easy to maneuver and not too busy. I like your side bars with Recent Posts and Archives but really like your Works in Progress. I look at several sites a day, therefore I feel I can say, “Well done.”

I saw your tweet announcing your new site. Site is great and I wish you all the best.

I don’t post a lot of stuff on Facebook; and of what I do post, very little of it is political. But I had to share your “Dropping Some Truth” piece the moment I read it. And so did my wife. Not since the opening scene in “The Newsroom” have I heard or read something that so hit the truth on the head. Thank you for sharing it with all of us!
Best wishes,
Randy

I think you meant: “You’re a douche bag.” Grammar is hard.

On huffington you stated Mexico will never build the wall. Look it up and don’t my word for it but approximately 23 Billion, yes that is with a B, dollars flows from the US to Mexico every year. With one executive order this transfer of money can be stopped.
Mexico cannot stand this big of a hit to their economy. Building the wall is cheaper than losing this much money coming into their economy every year.
That is why Mexico WILL be happy to build the wall! It is just economics.

I am not a supporter of Donald Trump, so maybe I shouldn’t take your “truth” rant so personally, but your contemptuous appraisal of those who don’t share your opinions shouldn’t make you feel better; it should make you examine your own heart. I read a lot, I often think, I come up with conclusions that in some instances match yours, and I often believe (like you) that I know what is “truth.” Most of the time, however, I refrain from mocking those who have differing opinions (although I have to admit, your rant tested my self-restraint 🙂
You probably already know that ridicule will not win the hearts of those whose minds you apparently want to change. In that case, what is gained by your ridicule?

I just read that Huffington Post piece and have decided you are now my adopted uncle. (If, however, you are physically incapable of being uncle to a 47 year old woman, then I’m willing to adjust. Perhaps you are now my adopted nephew. Whatever. I’m adopting you one way or another and there’s nothing you can do about it.)
I would like to print that thing onto something that can be folded and handed out like a business card. Say, a business card. I would then hand it out to anyone working in an establishment that has Fox News on its television, or who I overhear ranting about conservative neocon zombie brigade issue X, Y, or Z, or to my insane relatives who think they’re not racist because they have accepted that blacks can be quarterbacks.
What I’m saying is I loved what you wrote and I wish I could just carry you around in my purse to bring out on all the myriad occasions when I find myself having to choose between biting my tongue, leaving the room, or bursting into a tirade that will alienate every single sentient being within its blast radius. (Though “sentient” may be giving them too much credit.)
Thank you. THANK YOU.

Thank you for your WONDERFUL AND RIGHT ON COMMENTS on Huffington Post. I have felt for a long time that the GOP motto should be “keep ’em dumb/ Or the votes won’t come.” Bless you for telling the truth!

Mr. Fowler,
Just read your letter to President Trump article in Huffington Post. You neglected many things when describing illegal immigration. You mentioned your families danger, but said nothing of the practice of many illegals to kill, such as Kathryne Stenle, and run across the border. Nothing of the danger brought by so many violent cartel members destroying the private property of ranchers. The wrecks in which this lame administration lets illegals go, and refuses to render justice for the families they leave in tatters.
You talk of hope for your family, but what of the families that have spent their lives here, paid their taxes. Should their children be forced to suffer so your family can succeed. Remember the true costs of illegal immigration. If your family wants to be here, there are channels to be gone through. Anything else is a crime.
April 25, 2016 at 2:39 pm
You should read it a bit closer. It’s a hypothetical fictional account set in the future during a Trump presidency. FYI…the Obama administration has deported more illegals than Bush did, so you might want to check your facts.

I was just sent a post you made in Facebook. I’m not on face book so I feel it’s pretty special this landed in my lap. All I can say is thank you! So… Thank you.

I feel the need to drop a little truth on y’all. So buckle up…I’m about to be politically incorrect.
We don’t need to take America back. No one stole it. It’s right here…you’re sitting in it. Chillax.
Mexico isn’t going to pay for the wall and we’re not going to deport millions of people and break up families. If you think either one is a good idea, you’re not smart and probably not a person I want to hang out with.
We don’t live in a democracy. Technically we are a Federal Republic. But in reality we are ruled by an oligarchy. If you don’t know what that is, look it up. Reading will do you good. You probably need to do more of it.
FoxNews, CNN, and MSNBC have an agenda and are not “fair and balanced” or in any way unbiased. I’ll reiterate…read more. Read newspapers (even online ones). Read lots of opinions and sources and then (stay with me here), THINK! Form your own opinion based on as many facts as your can brain can tolerate.
Speaking of facts…there actually is a difference between facts, opinions, and propaganda. You should learn the difference. (Another opportunity to show off your mad reading skills.)
Science is real. We know things because of science. Don’t be afraid of it. You have an iPhone and Facebook because of science. It’s your friend.
Global warming or “climate change” as the cool kids call it IS REAL. Anyone who tells you it’s not real is not a smart person and probably should not be dressing themselves or caring for children.
Racism exists. And you are probably a little racist and should work on that. Seriously.
American Christians are not under attack. We are not being persecuted. We wield so much power in this country that politicians pretend to be Christian just so we will vote for them. No one is trying to take your bible away from you. The gay people are not destroying our families—we don’t need any help from them, thank you. We do a fine job of that by ourselves. So stop saying we are persecuted. You sound stupid.
Poor people need help. If you’re not helping them but complaining about how the government helps them with your money you are not a nice person.
Be nice to the people who teach your children. Don’t send them nasty emails or yell at them. Their job is 10,000 times harder than your stupid job. You are not a professional educator so just shut your mouth and be thankful someone is willing to teach your offspring.
You don’t know what Common Core is. You think you do, but you don’t unless you’re a teacher. So stop complaining about math problem memes on Facebook. You can’t do the math anyway.
ISIS is not an existential threat to the United States. We do not need to rebuild our military. Our military is the strongest, scariest, most badass killing machine the world has ever seen. So stop being afraid and stop letting politicians and pundits scare you.
Guns do in fact kill people. That’s what they are designed to do. If you feel you need a gun to protect yourself in America, you are probably living in the wrong neighborhood and should move before you go out and buy a gun. There are like a billion places to live where you won’t need a gun, or even need to lock your front door.
If you do own a gun, then make sure you know how to use it really, really, really well. Seriously…get some training because you still don’t know how to record stuff with your DVR. Go to the gun range and shoot the thing a lot. Learn how to clean it properly and be able to disassemble it and reassemble it with your eyes closed. It’s a freaking gun and it deserves that level of care, proficiency and respect. And for God’s sake, keep it locked up and away from your kids.
If you are even a little bit crazy, sad, or pissed off…you shouldn’t have a gun. And the Founding Fathers would totally agree with me.
Stop being suspicious of American Muslims. I guarantee the guy sitting next to you in the cubicle at work is probably more of a threat to you than any Muslim. He has to listen to your uninformed ranting day after day and has probably already imagined very colorful and creative ways to end you.
Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and all the rest are ENTERTAINERS! Stop getting your opinions from them. (Here’s where that reading thing can really be an advantage.)
Stop sharing Facebook memes that tell me to share or else Jesus won’t bless me with a laundry basket full of cash. That’s not how prayer works. And I don’t want money delivered (even from God) in a laundry basket. Nobody ever washes those things out and they just keep putting nasty dirty clothes in them. Yuck!
We are the United States of America and we can afford to house every homeless veteran, feed every child, and take in every refugee and still have money left over for Starbucks and a bucket of KFC.
Unless you can trace your family line back to someone who made deerskin pants look stylish and could field dress a buffalo, you are a descendent of an immigrant. Please stop saying that immigrants are ruining our country. Such comments are like a giant verbal burrito stuffed with historical ignorance, latent racism, and xenophobia all wrapped in a fascist tortilla.
That’s all for now. I feel better.

You, sir, are amazing. Thanks for your rant. I posted on my FB page and got 2 likes…LOL. Oh, well. Love someone who tells it like it is!

I enjoy your writing and world view. Thanks.

Great rant! I wish I could anonymously drop it on my in laws front doors. A university education on a real campus opened my WHITE, CATHOLIC eyes. Meeting people of different opinions and lifestyles is good. Exercise the brain regularly.
June 5, 2016 at 1:48 am
You sir are something else, you recently released and article calling me stupid. First of all I am far from stupid. I may not have a great education such as yourself but can you keep bees, can you drill a water well or an oil well? Can you wire the local supermarket for electricity? Can you weld, wood work, grow food to feed millions of people, maybe you can artificially inseminate cattle? Why don’t you come walk a mile in someone else’s shoes before you go making uneducated comments. I agree I don’t know what common core is, but I don’t have children. I am not all that good at math, but I will. E damned if a teachers job is 10,000 times harder than mine. You think I don’t need a gun, come check beehives with me in Arizona. Hell wake up, life is a cruel place. Why don’t you come spend a year in the life and my friends before you get all high and mighty and mislead the American public with your ill founded ideas. We can not afford to support everyone like you think we can, we don’t have the jobs. You know 10 x as much as I do about writing. I know 10x as much as you about mechanics, electricity, growing crops, raising cattle, and drilling wells. Yet I make $12 an hour and struggle everyday. So please, you claim yourself as a missionary, come live my life. Tell me why God favors you and not me. Tell me why I should support the poor when I am the poor and nobody supports me. Tell me how Bernie or Hillary is going to make my life better! The way I see it I have two choices, give up and go on welfare or go to work for the government. Honestly, I can make more on welfare.
June 5, 2016 at 11:52 am
I’m going to go out on a limb and bet you’re a Trump supporter. Perhaps you should look up the definition of satire. It might help you calm down.
June 6, 2016 at 3:50 pm
I really enjoyed your “rant” on HuffPost. I think if more Christians believed and ranted like you, church membership would not be on the decline.
PS I have friends who were missionaries back in the 50s in the Congo. It’s a rough row to hoe! Kudos!!
June 7, 2016 at 12:41 pm
Mr. Fowler: Thank you so much for putting into words what so many ordinary Americans think about the greatness of our country. What you expressed cannot be considered a ‘rant,’ however. You cut directly to the chase and simply stated the obvious: America is the greatest nation on earth because we dare to think big. And as long ordinary people continue to search for the truth beyond the B.S. and point their compass toward the positive, we can overcome anything. Even stupidity.
Keep it up.
June 7, 2016 at 12:42 pm
Thanks for the encouragement!

Courage! The scent of truth always brings out the trolls. Keep telling it like it is!

My wife is, well, Italian. Growing up on Chicago’s South Side there are no hyphenations. Our girls are Italian as well, by both looks and temperament. My German/Irish blood doesn’t count. We lived in Evanston while I got my masters at Northwestern years ago. Ro (the Italian) forwarded me your smart treatise on the state of America, proving again that she has more common sense than I do.
I have two gripes with the America I live in. And I told myself that pointing them out was better than a long rant. My first gripe is we gripe too much. Pause for a moment and discover the good things that are all around us. Stop. The other is the assignation of blame. Nothing just happens anymore. It seems that we must assign blame to every single thing that goes wrong. In life things go wrong. Deal with it, America! Done.
p.s. I agree with your point about the news media agenda. Fox and MSNBC. Especially in an election year.

If you have read Ishmael by Dan Quinn, 1992, you know. If not read it. I learned something new on every page, at 65 yoa, I never knew before and which is devastatingly necessary to live and understand life.
August 15, 2016 at 12:40 pm
Just read your “rant.” Right on my brother! Education, awareness, intelligence, the ability to take in information, analyse it and form a cogent opinion and not simply puke back up the bile spewed all over us by the “entertainers” is a skill set sorely lacking. Thank you.
August 15, 2016 at 1:05 pm
Thanks!

Hey! So I just felt the need to add my 2 cents regarding some wording in one of your articles. You spoke of the U.S form of government as not being a democracy, and that we are living in an oligarchy, which I absolutely agree with!!!! BUT, the only thing I found off was your description of our government as a “federal republic”, which I do not believe is true. It is a constitutional republic, in which each state has its own bill of rights, constitution, and republican form of government. Article IV of the United States Constitution “guarantee[s] to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government”.
^This is a great little video to watch, I think you will find it extremely interesting!

You are the biggest fucking idiot I have ever heard of. Are you really that stupid or just playing to the rest of the idiots in this country. It’s easy to see you are blind to what’s going on in this country you and your views are part of what’s wrong . Anyone who can say the kind of crap you did in your article has nothing but air between their ears.
February 24, 2017 at 8:35 pm
Well thank you for your eloquent assessment. I can tell by your stunning command of English that you are indeed my intellectual superior. Maybe someday I can have such deep insight into the condition of our nation. Thanks for your kind words.
March 15, 2017 at 1:10 pm
I got nothing but love for you, LaMonte. Stellar reply.
March 13, 2017 at 3:28 pm
I just finished reading “Read This Before You Say Anything Else About ‘Taking Back America’”. I respect your views and appreciate your frank honesty. As a member of the baby boom generation I have enjoyed all of the benefits of living in this wonderful country and blame my generation for wallowing in ignorance, self pity, greed and the it’s always somebody else’s fault mentality. We were given the keys to the kingdom, spent our children’s money (federal spending), blamed the media for bad news, believed people like Rush actually had our best interest at heart and forgot the lessons of history. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Trump and the once proud Republican party will try to destroy our way of life and turn us towards fascism. I hope that people rise up, protest, educate themselves and vote responsibly before our very way of life is gone.
