Listening to Pink Floyd this morning and the lyrics from “In the Flesh” really struck me in a way they never have before. I always ascribed a historic context to them, but now, I realize that we are living them out in 2016. God help us.
Might like to
Go to the show.
To feel that warm thrill of confusion,
That space cadet glow.
I’ve got some bad news for you sunshine,
Pink isn’t well, he stayed back at the hotel
And they sent us along as a surrogate band
We’re gonna find out where you folks really stand.
Are there any queers in the theater tonight?
Get them up against the wall!
There’s one in the spotlight, he don’t look right to me,
Get him up against the wall!
That one looks Jewish!
And that one’s a coon!
Who let all of this riff-raff into the room?
There’s one smoking a joint,
And another with spots!
If I had my way,
I’d have all of you shot!

Painfully real lyrics. Our job must include bringing love, justice and grace to the gatherings.

Amazing how you can trash one individual, because of the words he has spoken. That’s the beauty of living in this great country, where we have freedom of expression. The crime is the uneducated cattle, indoctrinated by our radical left higher educational institutions, trying to silence individual voices. It’s ok if I agree with what you say, but you cannot utter a word, if it doesn’t coincide with my rhetoric.
Get a clue and stop being so phobic, over one individuals word’s.

I’m not trying to silence anyone. In fact I’ve actually given him a wider audience. But I do think that what he is saying is indicative of a dangerous undercurrent of nationalism verging on fascism that is sweeping across the GOP. That should be talked about and actively resisted.

So, you’re being critical of somebody that doesn’t agree with your rhetoric and stereotyping them as “uneducated cattle” and “indoctrinated”. Get a clue and stop being so fearful.
